26 years have passed since Canada, Mexico, and the US signed the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). One the largest free trade zones in the world, NAFTA has greatly increased trade and investment among the three nations. Recognizing that the Agreement should be updated rather than scraped, the US, Canada, Mexico have agreed to renegotiate NAFTA.
On September 30, 2018, the three nations signed the “USMCA”, intending to modernize NAFTA. In consultations with the White House, on December 9, 2019, the US House of Representatives agreed to significant changes to USMCA. The revised USMCA will now go to the US Senate for ratification in early January, 2020. Mexico and Canada have also indicated their willingness to ratify the USMCA as soon as possible.

With senior positions in private practice, the US Department of Commerce, the European Union, American Airlines, and the IATA, he has developed substantial expertise in import-export operations and compliance, international trade, global negotiations, and international contracts and transactions.
At present, he is a Senior Manager, Global Trade, and Contracts, at Worldwide Trade & Legal Consultants, where he provides legal and strategic advice to organizations seeking to enter or expand foreign markets. Mr. Cohen has been asked to teach his expertise at universities and corporate seminars on international business and law in the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
