Ms. Nash-Hoff’s presentation will provide information on how to use the new technologies of automation, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and IIoT to solve the shortage of skilled workers. She will cover whether or not to acquire the equipment in-house or whether to use vendors that have one of more of these technologies already in use. She will give examples of how and when these technologies can be applied to either replace a manufacturing process or job function.
One of the biggest problems manufacturers face today is hiring skilled workers. There are an estimated 500,000 – 1,000,000 unfilled positions nationwide for workers skilled in manufacturing trades. If manufacturers can’t find enough skilled workers, they can’t grow their businesses. Therefore, it is critical for manufacturers to learn how they can use the new technologies of automation, robotics, artificial intelligence and IIoT that are part of Industry 4.0 to solve the labor shortage.
