We begin the course with what doesn’t work. Fair warning: you may see yourself in these first examples. It’s OK. Once you know why some techniques don’t work for either you or your audience, you’re half way home to creating great presentations. Next, we move to adopting a well-though out process that will lead you to developing high-quality presentations that really keep the audience as the focal point for designing engagement right into the presentation, offering opportunities for them to participate (even passively) in the experience.
Then, we move into PowerPoint. You’ll learn two techniques that can take you from staring at a blank slide template to a completed presentation in no time. We’re talking about minutes NOT hours! You’ll learn why the slide master is so important to the portability and pliability of your presentation slides. We’ll then move to enhancing your content with diagrams, charts, graphs and animation. You’ll learn how to present complex ideas without creating hard to read, jam-packed slides that frustrate your audience.
We’ll also talk about guidelines for speaker notes, handouts and why these should never be afterthoughts, but rather carefully thought out portions to your presentations.Best of all, you’ll learn how to organize your presentations in such a way that they can be reused and repurposed without starting from scratch!
