This Webinar will cover the complete context of payroll law and administration in view of the new FLSA Overtime Rules. It will start with the basic classification of workers properly classified as Contractors of Workers. Workers must next be classified as “Exempt” in the catergories of Executive Administrative & Professionnal using the new FLSA rules. These new classification must be compared to existing classifications. This will result in current exempt employees who no longer meet the salary threshold requirement and must be re-classified to Non-Exempt. This may require cultural and other challenges in implementation in additional to objective consideration of record keeping. accounting & reporting. Other employees currently in the Non-Exempt catergore and eligible for overtime may need to be re-classified as Exempt under the new guidelines. This will present some of the same challenges of culture and change and possible adjustments in compensation afforded by the new guidelines classification. When exempt emloyees are considered in both the old and new guidelines it will be clear some will clearly fit the new rules as exempt. Some will clearly not and should be re-classified. There will be other in the “grey” area that will require special consideration and treatment to ensure compliance.
